   Don Meyer was born June 3, 1934 in Detroit, MI. He moved to California at an early age and to South Gate while in elementary school. He had no siblings. His father was an electrician so it was logical he took up took up that trade. He went on to become a journeyman electrician after attending Compton JC and serving in the U.S. Army.

  He and his wife, Joanne (Harris), class of 1954, met at SGHS and were married in June 1956. They lived in H.P. before moving to the valley. They had two daughters, Janel Suliga of Simi Valley and Paula Stern of Las Vegas. Janel is married to Ken and Paula to Jeff. There are two grandsons, Eric & Brett Suliga.

  Don and Joanne both worked for Hughes and both retired from there. They moved from the valley into a beautiful home in Oakhurst, close to Yosemite. Sometime after his untimely death from heart failure, on April 1, 2001, his ashes were scattered over Yosemite....
