I met Darrell Hobbs in high school Senior Problems class. I went to East Los Angeles College for two years. During that time, Darrell joined the Air Force for 4 years. We were married January 18, 1959, and immediately moved to Anchorage, Alaska for two years with the Air Force. Our oldest daughter, Kathleen, was born there. It was a great time to be in Alaska as it became a state.

We were then sent to Luke Air Force Base outside of Phoenix Arizona. Our son, Tom, was born in Phoenix. When the 4 years was up, we came back to South Gate, CA. When Darrell went to work for So. California Edison Co., we moved to San Bernardino. In the years that followed, Darrell went back to college and earned his Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Business Administration. I finished my Assoc. of Arts degree. He was with Edison for over 30 years, and we moved many times. Another daughter, Jennifer, was born while we lived in Walnut. We have one granddaughter who is 17, and really into horses, jumping, and dressage. We have a wonderful daughter-in-law, Sheri. When our children gave us a 50th Anniversary party in 2009, out of 50 guests-----seven couples stood up who had been married 50 years or more. Quite a record!

We spend our retirement in Temecula, Ca., enjoying our family, camping in our fifth wheel trailer, and traveling to various parts of the world. We have been to Italy, Switzerland, Germany, France, England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Hawaii. This year we are doing a European Riverboat cruise from Amsterdam, Netherlands, to the Black Sea and will add nine countries more. Seeing the world is wonderful---but there's no place like home.
